Recovery Coaching: A Pathway To Sustained Recovery
When college students’ use of alcohol or drugs interferes with their lives and academic success, they often fail to realize their potential. Bluefield helps families and professionals create a structure that encourages abstinence and supports recovery while navigating the unique requirements of colleges and universities in the Triangle area. This structure supported by recovery coaches includes a comprehensive recovery and academic plan specific to the university that the student will attend or is currently enrolled. Our services, managed by Jeff Georgi and Becky Georgi, help students and families save talent by providing tools for personal growth, academic success and recovery support. Please reach out to us if you have questions about our program after looking through our website. Thank you!
What is recovery coaching?
Recovery coaching provides individual strengths-based support for those in recovery. Our recovery coaches connect young adults to the young people’s recovery network in the Triangle and encourage their involvement in that community. Through both 12-step meetings and social activities, recovery coaches provide the post-treatment support that is so vital in a successful return to campus. Our recovery coaches have extensive experience with life in sobriety and all of our coaches experienced success maintaining their recovery while active in the collegiate community. Recovery coaches act as a guide to help young adults engage with the recovering community.
What Others Are Saying:
“We were terrified at the thought of sending (our son) back on to a college campus where alcohol and parties are part of the daily life. Bluefield has provided the safe nurturing environment our son needed to facilitate his continued recovery. Bluefield also helped navigate the University requirements necessary to get our son re-enrolled in classes and has provided academic support as needed.”
– parent of a Bluefield student
“I never thought I could go back to school, maintain my recovery, succeed academically and feel a part of the university. Bluefield gave me a home in the young people’s community in both Durham and Chapel Hill while at the same time showed me how to have fun without using. All of the recovery coaches understood the challenges I was facing and although they were several years older with lots of recovery, several were finishing their degrees which made our connection meaningful.”

“We would not have readmitted (a student) without this type of program. Bluefield worked with us to assist our student and his family in planning out and making the smooth transition from intensive inpatient treatment, into their living program, and back into classes on campus without a glitch. Bluefield’s full service programs – supporting his recovery, his academics, his emotional health and his physical well-being – have allowed our student to return to classes to complete his senior year, and with their help, earned a 4.0 his first semester back, and is now on track to graduate on time with his class this spring.”
